The 7-a-side tournament was battled out by all the London Boroughs. After five matches in the group stages, four wins and one draw where 12 goals were scored by Team Southwark and none against, it was on to the Quarter Final to face Hackney. After beating them 1-0 the team faced Hammersmith & Fulham in the Semi-Final. A tough game resulted in a 1-0 win for Team Southwark and a place in the Final against Croydon.
The game was evenly poised throughout and the teams could not be separated after full time. An extra three minutes were played and still no goals so the game went to a penalty shootout. Goalkeeper Ryan saved the first attempt from Croydon as Southwark Captain, Devonte, carefully placed his penalty in the bottom corner. Croydon then scored their next penalty as did Jonathan for Southwark. It was all eyes on Ryan to try to save the next Croydon penalty to win the Cup which he did with great confidence.
There were tears of joy, none more than from the Management Team of Jason, Foued and Alex.
Congratulations to the whole squad and to all the students who supported their schoolmates.
