Eight of our students went to Hackney Marshes to take part in the football competition of this years London Youth ParaGames. The entire Southwark team was made up of boys from Cavendish who competed against the other London boroughs.
Other participants from another school pulled out at the last minute which left Team Southwark short of registered players which meant they could only field six players in the 7-a-side games.
The team was so successful in the knockout rounds and reached the sem-final where they faced a very strong Croydon side. Unfortunately the extra man for Croydon made all the diference and, although the game went to extra time, Southwark lost 2-1.
Liam Ward was top scorer with nine goals in the tournament, Freddy Mane achieved a respectable five goals. All the players did themselves, the Borough and their school proud and we look forward to next year's event.
