Say It With Your Chest (SIWYC) is a social enterprise with its expertise in educational consultancy. SIWYC uses pastoral care and psychology based techniques to improve behaviour amongst young people creating tailored interventions which focus on the personal, social and academic needs of students.
At Cavendish school we have conducted 5 workshops informed by the wants and needs stated by the students themselves to build their aspirations, confidence and self-awareness.
The themes of the workshop are:
- Who are you? (self-leadership)
- Aspirations
- The power of words (bullying)
- Why do I feel this way? (Dealing with Emotions)
As well as conducting 1-1 sessions as an opportunity for personal development towards their individual aspirations.
ABOUT SIWYC
Say It With Your Chest (SIWYC) is a social enterprise with its expertise in educational consultancy. Our name comes from a term coined by young people. It means to express your true feelings and thoughts boldly. The saying ‘say it with your chest’ was commonly used in the school our founder previously worked in and it embodies our vision and values. This is because we want to give young people a voice, by engaging them in conversations regarding how they can be better supported to stay in school and engaged with their education. Currently, pupils might rightly feel that all decisions around their education and lives are made by others; this can leave them feeling disempowered.
SIWYC aims to reduce the number of fixed period exclusions and permanent exclusions, decrease persistent disruptive behaviour and empower young people to raise their aspirations. Due to many years of experience working with young people SIWYC is aware of the positive impact that effective pastoral care can have on a young person. With this in mind, SIWYC creates tailored interventions which focus on the personal, social and academic needs of students.
